Hey there gorgeous Mums – the ‘Stars of Our Children’ (SOC)
I’ve been a journalist, a political campaign manager for a well known Kiwi celebrity, am a university educated public relations consultant and a freelance writer and columnist. I’ve just turned 40, was born and raised in NZ; I’m somewhat travelled… essentially I’m a kiwi through and through. This makes me someone who flies below the radar and avoids the ‘tall poppy’ syndrome, but had secretly or inadvertently wanted to succeed in the ‘world’s eyes’…
But… then there’s my kids – aged 19 down to 8. The survivors of Generation X, our Generation Y, soon to be parents of Generation ZZZZ?
I’ve become, and am growing towards being a passionate advocate for Mums or SOC-people trying their ‘darndest’ to stay at home with the kids, instead of working and leaving the ‘E-years’ (Essential Years) up to someone else. I envisage my blog to reflect how parenting or mothering is a lost art, a divided guilt-ridden confused state of mind, and mutilated by Labour-driven governments with hidden agendas by enticing women into work by dangling a big fat carrot in front of them in the way of ‘free childcare’. Really, they’ve only wanted our taxes along with a whole lot of other stuff we don’t agree to.
We have yet to see the real effects of six week old babies entering day care until age 5, and to a large degree, we’ve lost that family ‘feeling’ . But, all is not lost. More and more working Mums, especially full time women, are finally feeling the effects of separation from their children. Anyhow… more to come. You are SOC, think about that…
